(DP 1999-06) Philippine Colonial Banking During American Period

Abstract

This paper attempts to depict the general features of the structure of the banking sector in the Philippines during the American period. First, it illustrate how the banking institutions, either private or governmental (semi-governmental), existed in the Philippine economy during the American period. Second, it discusses how their activities were carried out during the American colonial period. Third, it shows what kind of relations the banking sector had with various production sectors at that time.
